Making Vet Visits Less Stressful at Nurture
At Nurture, your pet’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We understand that visiting the vet can sometimes feel stressful for both pets and their owners, so our clinics are designed to create a calmer, more positive experience from the moment you arrive.
Our team focuses on reducing anxiety and helping pets feel safe and comfortable during their visit. We use gentle handling, quiet consultation spaces, treats and time for pets to settle. By adapting each appointment to the individual pet, we aim to build confidence and trust with every visit.
Cat Friendly Care
Nurture is proud to be an ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) Gold accredited Cat Friendly Clinic, recognising our commitment to high standards of feline care.
We run Cat Only Clinics every Monday from 2–4pm via the Nurse Hub entrance at the rear of the Nurture Vet Hospital in Wells.
Our cat-friendly approach includes:
-
Separate cat-only waiting areas away from dogs
-
Dedicated catteries designed for feline comfort and recovery
-
Team members trained in feline-friendly handling
-
Cat advocates who regularly review and improve feline care standards
Dog Friendly Environment
We also work to make veterinary visits less stressful for our canine patients. Our clinics in Wells and Weston-super-Mare are recognised as Dog Friendly Clinics, following guidance from the Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association to promote positive experiences for dogs.
To support this we offer:
-
Separate waiting areas to reduce stress from cats
-
Comfortable dog patient wards separate from cats for day stays or hospitalisation
-
A team trained in canine-friendly handling and care
-
Dog advocates who continually review ways to improve canine wellbeing
Rabbits, Small Furries & Exotic Pets
Every pet deserves care tailored to their needs — whether they have fur, feathers or scales. Our Wells practice has achieved the Silver Award as a Rabbit Friendly Practice, recognising our high standards of rabbit care.
Across both sites, our team continues to develop ways to improve care for rabbits, small furries and exotic pets, ensuring every visit supports their wellbeing.
Longer Consultations for Better Care
Unlike many practices in Wells and Weston-super-Mare, we offer longer 20-minute vet consultations. Your vet will first sit down with you to discuss your pet’s health and any concerns before carrying out a thorough nose-to-tail examination and working with you to create the best treatment plan.
We look forward to welcoming you and your pet soon and helping every visit feel as calm and comfortable as possible.
